First things first: this is an Albertosaurus, not a T. rex! Think of Albertosaurus as T. rex’s slightly smaller, older cousin. About 30 feet long, 3 tonnes and roaming Alberta around 70 million years ago. Still plenty big enough to ruin your day.

Our metal dino was created by Canadian sculptor Russell Zeid, using scrap metal from Alberta and Ontario. It was originally commissioned by Chinook Centre around the millennium before being donated by Cadillac Fairview to Spark.
- The first Albertosaurus sarcophagus fossil was discovered along the Red Deer River by Joseph Burr Tyrrell in 1884
